Pasted just below, info about the meetings from the http://
www.rtadvisory.org/website. I don't remember seeing these meetings
being announced anywhere on e-democracy forums (maybe lost in the RNC
hubbub), so I thought I would post them for folks in Minneapolis, St.
Paul, and greater Minnesota forums who might be interested in the
future of the largest recycler of paper in the State of Minnesota.
Info about the process is available at this same site with links to
download the study and recommendations as well as voluminous info
connected to the effort. There is also a yahoo groups listserv with
ongoing questions and comments.
"Public Meetings September 6th and 15th
Community members are invited to attend a brief presentation and
share their comments and questions on the draft report and
recommendations.
Saturday, September 6th beginning at 10 AM
Monday, September 15th beginning at 6:30 PM
Wilder Center, 451 Lexington Pkwy N
All comments are welcome. All attendees will be given an opportunity
to express their views with respect to this project and these
recommendations. In the interest of time, comments should be limited
to 3 minutes each. Written comments can be sent to
<email obscured> or Attn: Energy Recommendations, SPPA, Suite
1900, 345 St. Peter St., Saint Paul, MN 55102. Written comments will
be accepted through September 19th.
The public meetings are sponsored by the Saint Paul Port Authority,
Hamline Midway Coalition, St. Anthony Park Community Council, Union
Park District Council, and Macalester-Groveland Community Council."
This is an ongoing process mandated by the MN State Legislature to
study renewable fuels and technology for the energy needs of Rock-
Tenn's paper mill in St. Paul at I-94 and Vandalia, to provide for
public input, and to provide the study and recommendations on the
best options as determined by the St. Paul Port Authority.
The citizen advisory panel, including Minneapolis residents within
walking and breathing distance of plant, basically agreed with the
Port on the first priority option and alternative using gas from
anaerobic digestion (with qualifications, all included with the
released study circulating now), but balked on a biomass gasification
plant option for which there is inadequate environmental data,
requesting to be reconvened should this gasification be considered
for implementation (the Port has not agreed to do this).
There are two brand spanking new gasification plants, one in Benson
and one at the University of MN at Morris, for which we will get much
data in the coming months.
This appears to be an important meeting.
Would anyone on the St Paul forum consider covering Council agenda
items/meetings, public hearings/meetings/announcements?
I onlylist Mpls Council/park, school board issues, joint powersand those
related to Mpls issues--county, library and Met council, legislature..I have
posted an occasional link on Rock Ten when it concerned Midtown Eco Burner as
well as MTC &Central Corridor LRT meetings...but on the Mpls forum..Also have
found StPaul/Ramsey
county-related items under Met Council actions.
I wouldn't attempt covering St Paul ---not familiar with city govt there
Just a thought.
best wishes for a beautiful weekend ...and enjoying having our cities 'back',

If you follow the below link http://www.rtadvisory.org, you will have an opportunity to send an email registering your thoughts about the garbage burner. Even if you are going to the meeting you should send an email. They actually count these things and they become part of the "record" and are often used/abused to support upopular projects by having supporters and their friends from all over flood the receiving address with emails in support of the project.
