Hello -
I've been following the posting for some time, but am just finally
getting around to introducing myself. My husband, Dan and I (Sarah)
live on the 4700 block of 28th Ave. We've lived here for just over 3
years and love our proximity to the trails and lakes. I grew up in
St. Paul - and loved the neighborhoods there, but after 3 years on
this side of the river - I don't think I'd be able to live far from
water again!
I am an immigration attorney in Minneapolis. Dan teaches 3rd grade
at Burroughs Community School in SW Mpls. When we aren't at work -
you can usually find us on our back deck. We are both huge Twins
fans too - and are anxiously listening to the game tonight.
We really love all the neighborhood stores and restaurants. One of
the places we frequent (and not technically in our neighborhood) is
the Midtown Global Market and love all the local products found
there. If you have been there recently - you'll notice the Farm in
the Market store has closed. (and here comes a request from me...)
In talking to Lori Callister - the owner of Farm in the Market -
we've come to find that they did not close because of slow sales, but
because of some disagreements with the management of the Midtown
Market about how the MGM is advertised and run. If you bought things
from Lori or appreciate local meat, cheese, milk and eggs - it would
be great if we support Lori and her store by contacting Mayor Rybak,
City Council and the MGM management. It would be a shame to see Farm
in the Market close for good - and I think it would be detrimental to
the whole market.
Hope to meet more of you!
