Like most MN growers the last several years our basil has been hit with
Downy Mildew to the point of making a crop impossible to grow. Rutger's
University has been developing a few varieties of basil that are Downy
Mildew Resistant. Johnny's selected seeds is carrying 2 of the varieties in
reasonable quantities for the small grower. Van Drunen Farms is selling
seed of all 4 varieties but the smallest amount available is 20 gram
increments. 20g is about 12,000 seeds- which is way more than I need. I'm
most interested in the Rutger's Passion DMR variety
<https://www.vdfspecialtyseeds.com/rutgers-passion-dmr> which isn't
available at Johnny's. 20 grams is $50. If I can find 5-10 people who are
interested in going in to purchase these seeds we could divide what we get
and only spend $5-$10 per grower. Let me know if you are interested in
sharing in the seed purchase. Please reply directly to me and not the whole
list. Thanks!
