recently "I know of nothing in the Pioneer Press that can not be sourced
elsewhere, so I'm very disappointed in the product. It is fashionable to lay
the blame on the owners, but a significant part of the blame rests on those
journalists, who for the most part just just repackage press releases, wire
reports, police calls, or social media."
I typically get pushback from people who say they have continually subscribed
for X years. Honestly, I usually chalk that up to nostalgia, but I may have
missed some pieces in the Pioneer Press over the last year. With that in mind
I'd like to see a 'best of 2019' of original, in-depth reporting that addresses
important issues in St. Paul, especially those which speak truth to power and
hold our leaders accountable.
Joe Nathan already commended Josh Vergas' series on the SPPS facilities issue
back in May (https://tinyurl.com/tf2angf & see attached).
Would anyone like to nominate others?
