electronic block online groups using our current tools.
While these require a "forum host" and will cover a bounded area (versus
dynamic leaderless start-up as we've proposed to serve everyone anywhere),
we can get a direct sense of how people will come to use such spaces at the
private, nearest neighbor level. We already know how people use broader
neighborhood-wide public spaces.
What we can also learn is what kinds of outreach methods work and what
online tools we might create to assist outreach on the block or in the
building.
Who here is willing to host a 25-100 member private online group for your
nearest neighbors?
I'll do it for the few blocks near me.
I am assuming that I will need to create a simple flyer, drop it at people's
doors and likely follow-up with a door knock and a paper sign-up to get a
core 25 people signed up. My core territory (about 60 homes) doesn't have a
block captain or National Night Out party, so I'll be doing this organizing
from scratch. If you do have NNO for your block, then start there!
Who is in? You can be anywhere not just in Minneapolis or St. Paul.
