Microaggressions are 'inadvertent slights that are painful because they echo
whole histories of trauma' A microaggression can be innocent - like an old lady
expressing some old-fashioned trope, but is usually considered to reveal the
inner beliefs of the speaker.
Ilian Omar is clearly an anti-Semite and her 'microaggressions' may be
innocent. But the NYTimes rushing to her defense "Omar has been subject to a
terrifying campaign of racist vilification" is ridiculous when you consider the
vilification heaped on other people who innocently express politically
incorrect views. The Times opines: "Omar said things that are offensive and
that sheās the victim of a double standard" - that may be true, but it's the
same double standard the Times regularly uses to vilify their political
opponents.
