Specialist. As a member of the Adult Employment Team, this position assists in
the facilitation of a neighborhood based employment assistance program,
specifically assisting with resume development, cover letters, working on
barriers to employment, placing individuals into employment and monitoring
their progress during the first year of employment. Will be involved in
one-on-one or group job counseling, job development, career assessments,
referrals to support services, job lab activities and workshop facilitation.
Major Duties:
* Achieve placement/retention goals for all contracts including fulfilling
the requirements of these contracts and abiding by their guidelines.
* Assist clients with obtaining and maintaining employment and following
client's progress for a minimum of one year after employment is obtained.
* Maintain accurate and precise detailed case notes for all participants,
including reporting on graduates at specific intervals using various online
databases.
* Develop and maintain relationships with employers, educational
facilities, area job training agencies, and other relevant referral or resource
providers be resourceful finding job leads.
* Counsel individuals and groups in job-seeking techniques, including
applications, resumes, cover letters, interviews, contacting employers and job
retention skills.
* Provide crisis intervention including connecting clients with the best
resource to overcome barriers to employment.
* Be available to take clients to job interviews when advance notice is
given by participant.
* Support recruitment and marketing outreach efforts by attending job
fairs, creating marketing materials, meet regularly with team members, working
with ESNS business partners, and providing additional support as needed.
* Use appropriate technology to assist clients in developing resumes and
cover letters.
* Use appropriate technology and agency databases to maintain updated
client information and program reports as necessary.
Qualifications:
Education
* Bachelors Degree in Human Services, Social Work, Vocational Counseling,
Psychology or equivalent education and experience.
* Certified as a Global Career Development Facilitator (GCDF) or ability to
attain the GCDF.
Experience
* Experience in job development, retention services, social services
advocacy and case management.
* Ability to provide culturally appropriate services through knowledge of
employment and training opportunities, community resources and assessments.
* Initiate develop and organize one's own tasks.
* Work in cooperative team relationships with agency staff and community.
* Handle confidential information.
* Relate to people of varied ethnic and cultural backgrounds, ages and
economic circumstances.
The pay rate $32,000 - $36,000 annually, depending on qualifications. East Side
