THe Ox Mail reports the proposed housing at Oxpens is coming along:
http://www.oxfordmail.co.uk/news/9604628.Deal_paves_way_for_riverside_site/
I beleive the design would benefit from through access from Oxpens Meadow,
through the site, to Beckett Street.
THis would have the following benefits:
For Grandpont residents, a route all the way to the Station for pedestrians and
cyclists without having to use a main road
For Trinity Street/Dale Close residents, relief from cyclists who currently use
the path behind their houses to get to the Station, a path which is too narrow
for the purpose and has given these residents concern.
For residents of the new development, quick access to leisure amenities in the
form of Oxpens Meadow and Grandpont Nature Park, as well as a higher footfall
in their estate which is good for security.
How do we go about raising this in the planning process? Any advice would be
appreciated.
THere is a precedent; some of the modern developments on the south side of the
Botley Rd incorporate through access to Oatlands Road Rec, to the benefit of
residents and pedestrians/cyclists accessing shops on the Botley Rd.
