Just a reminder. As the temperature drops we see an increase in
vehicle theft. Often it occurs when people leave their cars running,
with the keys in them, unattended, to warm them up. Mpls Police
Officers are alert to running vehicles left unattended. You may get a
friendly warning, or even a ticket. Leaving a car running with the
keys in it is a violation of city ordinance. Please stay with your
vehicles when warming them up.
Alternatives include a remote starter, found in many newer cars. If
someone breaks in because they see the vehicle running, the car will
shut off. It can't be taken without the keys.
