I don't know about anybody else, but I've been more and more frustrated lately
with the proliferation of phone books that appear on my door step. I don't
want them! I don't use them! I know I can recycle them - but it's frustrating
to have to deal with them when I don't want them in the first place.
I've discovered that I'm not the only person who has carried them directly from
my front step to the recycle bin.
I've been looking for some kind of soluction to this problem, but no one seems
to have one.
The last time one of the companies delivered them to the office we were lucky
enough to be here, so I just told them not to leave them.
I just got all the old ones taken care of and today we came to the office to
find new ones - these are Yellow Book.
I called the number listed on the bag - sometimes it's hard to find a number -
and was referred to another number where I talked with a person who said she
would add the address to a do-not-deliver-list. I hope this works. I realize
this is just one of the multitude of phone book companies, but at least it's a
start.
If anyone else is tired of unwanted phone books, the number is 1-800-373-3280.
And if anyone else has discovered other solutions for other companies, I'd love
to know what they are. -- shirley
How about a yearly neighborhood bonfire?
Everyone could march with a phone book on their head to Lake Hiawatha and we'd
set them all on fire. I think that might make a point.

Hi-
I'm new to the neighborhood, and actually don't live there, but work in the
Roosevelt High building. If you have unwanted phone books lying around, let me
know and I'll come and get them! If you get enough, you can make some pretty
neat things out of them. So.... let me know if you have a few lying around.
Hello All, This website should help you out. www.YellowPagesGoesGreen.org <http://www.yellowpagesgoesgreen.org/> Take Care, Heidi Yee
Nathan - we do have several phone books at the SENA office. Since I get the
daily updates for the forum I don't know how to contact you directly, but if
you'll let me know how to reach you via e-mail or call the SENA office at
721-1601 I can definitely get you some phone books.
Heidi - you made my day. No my week! Maybe more. I'm so glad someone is
organizing something to deal with this. I really hope they can make an impact.
In the meantime - I'm all for the bonfire!

Hi Everyone-
Shirley's given me permission to ask you to bring your unwanted phone books to
SENA's office @ 1830 E. 42nd Street. You can drop them off in the entry way
any time before Friday the 15th. I'll be picking them up then... so its a
quick fix to whatever accumulation you've got in the garage.
Still got phone books? Get rid of them -- or other recycled materials -- on
