As you all nay or may not know, my son Karl Chamberlain was killed by the state
of Texas
on June 11th, 2008. He was 37. If eadh of you sent in a $5.00 donation or
purchased even one of the products made available by "capital X' it would help
support the cause to change the laws in the country to go forward in a more
humane way toward those who make the
worst mistakes possible, thank you. Mu'ina aka donnachamberlain

I have put my current demo CD containing 10 tracks for sale on my home page for
$12.00 shipping included within the USA in hopes to raise some funds for
actions we are taking in Texas for August. I am asking everyone to please help
support these non-profit actions which include protesting the 6 up coming
executions in Texas. Thank you in advance.
The US constitution forbids 'cruel and unusual punishment' for criminals, but
affords no such consideration to the families of the convicted.
Whatever else we can say for or against capital punishment, this much is true:
most of these condemned people have mothers, fathers, brothers and sisters.
Don't we have an obligation to these family members -- not convicted of crimes,
yet punished horribly -- to refrain from punishing them cruelly and
unusually?... say, by keeping their condemned sons/brothers/etc. under the
promise of death for years and years and years (10-1/2 in the case of Muina's
son).
In this supposedly 'Christian' country (what an insult to a major prophet of
love and acceptance), vengeance is given so much more value than forgiveness.
Well, the wonderful thing is, when we demonize criminals (or Iraqis,
homosexuals, Republicans, Democrats, 'terrorists,' women who abort fetuses,
etc/etc/etc.) we get to ignore our own dark or difficult places. That's handy,
eh? We're so clever!
Regarding true justice: Let them work it off... whether it's a life sentence or
1 year, it does the brain of "all" little good to simply rot in a cell. ...and
sometimes, even worse, life is not fair - example being a prisoner that really
did not commit the crime, as does happen too often... Even worse, someone is
"framed" by others committing bigger crimes.
If we TRULY follow scripture: Who are we to judge? Yes, some need to be locked
up to protect others as well as themselves. Yet too many are incarcerated that
could be given creative jobs to rehabilitate themselves, and at least have a
better chance at re-joining society once they've served their time.
I find many call themselves Christian. How many truly follow the teachings of
Jesus? Even then, we might alsobe a martyr if we arenear a place of worship and
throw over tables of vendors... Chances are we would be locked up. According to
legend, it seems extreme that Jesus was hung on a cross for that, but he has
"gotten back" at them for app. 2000 years.
In honest definition, "Eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth" can be simply
translated: For every action, there is a reaction. By trying to "kill the
enemy", in most cases we are just killing ourselves. I say hold people
accountable, and treat them like you would family... or simply follow the
Golden Rule: Do unto others that which you would do for yourself. Sometimes
this means treating others better than you treat yourself.
Spirituality and religious belief are not always representing the same
principles. Spirituality is our connection to the Divine, and goes beyond
description. Religion is a set of rules, dogma, ritual, and beliefs mostly
adhered by institutions thinking their ways are better than others.
The truth is, we are all given bodies at birth, our days are numbered, then we
pass on. The rest is mostly speculation unless you are among the few that have
seen a "glimpse" of the "other side".
A prisoner that committed a serious crime and his being held, though possibly
without a death sentence, should have considered his family/ friends before
commiting the offense.
