This Sunday, Oct. 12, ISAIAH will be convening the Time to Believe event in
St. Paul's River Centre. It will begin at 3pm in Roy Wilkins auditorium and
runs until 5:30pm. The event is free.
ISAIAH is a coalition of over 90 churches in the Twin Cities metro area and
St. Cloud working for systemic change toward social justice. At Time to
Believe we will have 4,000 people together with a couple hundred public
officials to talk about transformation -- the transformation we need in our
society for racial and economic justice and the transformation we each need in
our own hearts to make that possible.
The first hour will be something of a revival -- a truth-telling about what is
happening in the world, personal testimonies and commitment to something new.
There will be stories about issues such as health & health care, immigration
and jobs & transportation. There will be celebration about progress we've
made and lamentation for those unable to attend.
This is about a new kind of relationship between public officials and
community members. It's about moving from transactional relationships to
transformational ones -- where we are co-creating a shared vision and working
together to make it real.
We have invited public officials and candidates from all levels of government
to be there with us. Senator Amy Klobuchar will speak as will Speaker
Margaret Anderson Kelliher and Senate Minority Leader David Senjem. Al
Franken will also make an appearance. Legislators from all over the Twin
Cities metro area will be there with us.
In the second hour (with some time for movement of people), we will have
regional breakouts where interaction with local candidates on local issues can
happen. In the Minneapolis breakout there will be discussion of the Harrison
Neighborhood CBA among other things.
