Leech Lake Nation will answer this call. The new police chief, Scott Johnson,
has a sincere desire to make Grand Rapids a more welcoming place for all
people. Having a Native voice on this board would be a very good thing...
The City of Grand Rapids Police Department is increasing engagement between its
officers and the public with the new Police Community Advisory Board (PCA). The
PCA Board will act as community advisors to the Police Department and Grand
Rapids City Council. Their mission is to make recommendations on
police-community relations, planning, police training, programming, and public
education.
This board is comprised of seven members of our community, a majority of which
are Grand Rapids residents. The City of Grand Rapids is accepting applications
for the PCA Board from now through March 20, 2015.
If you are interested, please contact the Administration Department of City
Hall at 420 N Pokegama Avenue or call 326-7600. The application is attached.
