You ought to be aware that Bristol Evening Post journalists are using this
forum to provide source information for writing stories about Brislington.
Obviously, this forum is public, so the Evening Post is within its rights to do
this. We might even welcome the newspaper advocating for the community.
However, the interests of all members of the community may not always be their
priority. You may want to bear this in mind when you're discussing Brislington
matters.
In the Evening Post's recent 'raves' and Jubilee Pool articles, the stories
appeared to suggest that the City and service providers such as the police were
not being responsive to the community. However, this is not exactly the case.
While the seeming slow pace of action in areas can be frustrating, I'm sure
that you can all see that in order for officials to act on our behalf, they
have to build a case based on hard evidence. And Brislington East and West Ward
councillors are working hard within the community, with remarkable cross-party
collaboration, to address concerns and have been very helpful in providing
information about the history of Jubilee Pool and Hengrove Leisure Centre.
This forum is an open space for us to discuss things that concern Brislington.
It would be terrific if the Evening Post and other Bristol media would work
positively with us in future.
