I'm surprised at the number of Seward residents I've met who do
wormbox composting year round. Is one of your neighbors
a worm box operator? Let them know about this event, to lend
their expertise. If you would like to try it, here's an opportunity.
If you are a worm box operator, let us know.

The Macalester EcoHouse is having its first event of the summer
this coming Sat, July 5, at 1:00 pm, a worm composting
workshop! The Macalester College EcoHouse is at 200 Vernon St.
in St. Paul. A community member and a Mac student
who know a lot about worm composting will come and talk about
their experience and the process of setting up a worm bin
of your own. If you are interested or have a lot to share on the
topic,
we would love to have you come and share! Thanks!

I have a colony of red worms that's been living in my back yard for some 20
years or so. It's a bit of work but results in what is called a "cold" compost,
which retains enzymes that are destroyed in a traditional "hot" compost pile.
I figured out how this works reading "Worms Eat My Garbage" by a Wisconsin
author. Anyhoo, if ya want some worms just give us a call--Joanne
