Chicago’s school board will vote up or down, October 22^nd , on a
proposed union-initiated and union-led small school. A new non-profit
organization has been set up to run the school as a collaborative
between the *IFT* and *SEIU*. It’s not clear as to whether the new
school will come in as a charter or a contract school since all Chicago
charters now available under state law have been used up.
Chicago public schools CEO *Arne Duncan* voiced support for this new
school on Chicago Public Radio
