As many of you know, there’s a new playground going in at Hamline Park. The
Midway Public Art group is working with Parks and Rec to find an artist or
group of artists who live, go to school, or work in the neighborhood to
fulfill the City’s 1% Public Art ordinance, where 1% of capital projects,
like the playground, goes to public art. We’ve created a Request for
Proposals to find that awesome new project. The deadline is September 12
and there is at least $3,700 available, though we’re hoping to raise more.
Please check it out and spread the word. And if you or anyone you know
would like to be involved on the selection committee, please let me know.
The RFP can be found here —
https://midwaymakers.org/hamline-park-playground-rfp/ — on our new Midway
Makers website to promote neighborhood artists/makers (learn more and sign
up for the directory at the site), and I’m attaching an image that can be
shared on social media, so please spread the word. We’re very excited about
the proposals that will come in, especially from people who might not
otherwise see themselves as having this kind of opportunity.
Let me know if you have any questions!
Thanks,
Jonathan Oppenheimer
