I would be interested to hear views about the proposed changes to the 75/76/77 services in the Bedminster area. See http://www.firstgroup.com/ukbus/southwest/bristol/haveyoursay/index.php
If the frequency of the buses isn't altered (or improved) then why not? I do
have an offer from First Bus for two of their managers to speak to the public
in Greater Bedminster - this can be arranged to discuss this route and the
24/25 if anyone is interested.
This would be a real shame, as it's precisely the 'through the centre' option
of these buses that makes it so useful.
I for one would find it a lot less viable (both time-wise & comfort-wise) to
head up to the Gloucester Road if it involved using two buses, with the
inevitable extra wait & potential for getting cold & wet while changing buses
in the centre.
I notice they also say "through tickets are available for customers wishing to
travel across the city" but no indication as to whether it's going to get more
expensive to do so or not.
Roll on the 'worst of both world's' private monopoly of Bristol's 'public'
transport.
Totally agree. Not being able to travel on one bus further than the Centre
really makes bus travel so much more difficult and unpleasant. Travelling
from Southville in the evening means that there is no through route on the
25, and I find this very much restricts my use of the buses particularly on
a return journey (evenings out have to end early because of this, or I use
alternative transport). I have used the 77/75 buses as a fall-back (walking
between West Street and North Street). Now that will not be an option, I
despair of ever being able to have reasonable bus travel.

We already get a totally c***p "service" from Last Bus - I had thought it
couldn't possibly get any worse but it seems I was wrong.
This scheme to end cross-centre routes is certainly not any help at all to
passengers. I totally agree with the previous posts from Emma Winfield and
Diane Jones - having to switch buses in the Centre is just a recipe for more
delay, discomfort and expense. The excuse from Last Bus about trying to
address the problem of congestion in and around the Centre is just a laughable
smokescreen - for the many passengers who want to travel from Southville across
and beyond the Centre it would be nothing but extra inconvenience for no gain
whatsoever.
I already find it extremely frustrating that I can't get anywhere else in Bristol without changing in the centre. It's expensive because I have to pay for two journeys and I never know how long I'll need to wait. I fear splitting this service won't actually make a difference to the reliability (it's not like all the other journeys are reliable and it's just these long routes that are not), and will therefore just make this one decent journey a worse experience for customers. Reliability and cost are the two major factors here. I'd be interested to hear the detail of a through ticket. What would the cost be and would this be available for all routes that require a centre split (or just the 75-77 route)? I'd really like to see the type of timed ticket available that I could just hop on an off buses for up to an hour (better make it 2hrs to start, and reduce to an hour when first bus have proven reliability over a decent stretch of time). In tonight's Evening Post is this article on how complaints about splitting the route have stopped the change http://www.thisisbristol.co.uk/news/People-power-persuades-Bristol-bus-routes/article-490299-detail/article.html
