When you walk around my "hood", you don't have to be a junkie to realise Newham
Council are selling of bits of our local heritage or destroying them right
under or noses eg. badly renovated Swan Pub, Stratford Old Town Hall might soon
become a hotel, the Angel Cottage fiasco, Queen's Market leased to developers,
Unitarian Church (West Ham Lane) knocked down for office spaces... are they
"selling off the family's silver"... me thinks so.
I Totally agree , what I would like to know is ,do the council have a legal
right to sell/lease Stratford town hall?. As a council arent they supposed to
be answerable to the community which they are allegedly elected to serve ,
after all they are voted in by someone for just that purpose , not to just
please themselves as they seem to do , after all these places do not belong to
them they belong to the public ..and I dont remember anyone asking whether they
have permission .

I could not agree more,
But because of the PALS act they seem to get away with things, as for the
person who fired this up I would suggest he looks at the spotted dog......Ray

the problem is though, despite nearly everyone who has an opinion thinking
newham council is a bunch of useless tossrs (yeah, one or two have their hearts
in the right place but unfortunately their heads so far up RW ar$e theres
hardly room for his own) - people still vote them in.
unless and until the majority of people wake up and smell the starbucks, newham
will always be the personal fiefdom of He who shall be obeyed.
I wish people would wake up too, I can happily say I have never been guilty of
voting for the Mayor or this council , but there must be a lot of people out
there that enjoy living in this filthy tip created by a serious lack of respect
for the areas history and its people, by those that are supposedly entrusted
with the care of both..Quite funny really if it wasnt so bloody sad.
