has been a lot of interest in improving the safety of people who walk, people
who bike, and people in wheel chairs (actually, anyone using āpeople powered
transportationā) in Seward. At the August Seward Neighborhood Group Community
Development Committee meeting, a small, informal task force was formed. We are
leaning toward developing a Seward Pedestrian/Bicycle plan to address all the
areas of concern.
The first step it to ask you for your ideas and concerns:
* What are the dangerous places in Seward to walk or bike or roll?
* What are your ideas for improving safety for people walking, people on
bikes, people in wheel chairs?
We look at this effort as building on things that have happened in the past,
things that are already planned, and groups already working on this (e.g. the
work of the Seward Montessori Safe Routes to School group, the crosswalk and
warning signs at Franklin and 24th Street planned by Hennepin County, and
Redesign's Reconnecting Neighborhoods Project about improving connections
across I-94).
