fyi
view on Comcast city station 79 or live stream from city webpage.
just a few items (most, but not all have links).
does not include the independently elected park board. they have a good
engagement process (for the most part) and a good timely email system going
beyond agendas and extending to public process, meetings, cac's, email notices
(lots of them). also lots of notices in the park buildings.
I may be posting agenda items on a limited basis .... sometimes it seems that
there is limited coverage out of the city on public hearings, ordinance
changes, etc.... unless you get bare bones announcements in the finance and
commerce journal. subscriptions with expanded articles are pricey.
the strib is doing a better job noticing some items (i.e., last week's blog on
the bike corral project).
with the recent strib buy-outs, a lot of institutional knowledge will be 'lost'
and possibly curtailed (even in the blog format).
.... pleased that steve brandt is still reporting.
in addition to contributing to city and park coverage with other reporters, he
has provided some the best coverage of the school board I have seen.
this engagement 'problem' is not the fault of the clerk's office ... but a
problem in how the city views the community engagement process and
mechanisms. sometimes even neighborhood assns. haven't been noticed either
(that was mentioned today on a nhood forum).
wasn't the city holding a meeting or two on how to improve the process
including improvement the open meeting data practices procedures ?
