Is your front garden ready for a Good Garden Award?
Spruce up your sage, tidy your tulips and hang your hanging basket - the Good
Front Gardens Awards are back! Volunteer judges will be on our streets
between 6th June and 5th July, awarding certificates to people who have
brightened up any outdoor space they have. Get ready now and surprise the
judges with inventive uses of small spaces. Whether it's beautiful, edible or
wildlife friendly, try to make them smile.
What should be the Bloom of Bedminster?
Yorkshire has the white rose, Wales has the Daffodil - but what would you
choose to be the bloom of Bedminster? To accompany this year's Good Front
Garden Awards we're asking people to help choose the flower you think should be
the official 'Bloom of Bedminster'. A shortlist of flowers will be revealed and
the public will be able to cast their votes from June. Look out for more

On Tuesday 2 June, 7.30pm Martin, from Go Foraging will be giving us an insight
in to free food and how much is out there, provided you know what you are
looking for and take really good care over what you eat. St Paul's Church,
Coronation Road, Southville. Non members welcome, £3.50 (membership of the
club is £25 for a year)
A new public garden for Bedminster
The barren grey car park that has fronted the City Farm for many years is about
to be transformed into a verdant and welcoming space. Initial sketch plans
have been drawn up and an invitation issued to local people to input their
ideas to the what the detail of the design will be. Find out more and have

You're invited to a Garden Party
The Southville Centre's community garden will form the focal point of a fun day
themed party to mark Southville Community Development Associations 25th
birthday. There will be music, family friendly activities, tea and cake.
There's also a competition to create an enchanted garden on a plate or tray.
Pop along from 1.30-4.30pm.
Going Wild on North Street
As part of the North Street Fair on Saturday 27 June Blooming Bedminster will
be turning part of the road wild with a 'pop-up' bug and bee flower carpet.
Come along and find out which plants will help you make your garden wildlife
friendly and pick up some plants to take home with you.
Bedminster's Secret Gardens - take a second peak
If you missed the first open garden day don't worry you've got a second chance
on Sunday 12 July, 1-5pm. 18 gardens will be open to visit for just £2 with
all the proceeds going towards the Patchwork Community Gardening Group. Pick
up your guide from Riverside Garden Centre or on the day from the Tobacco
Factory Market.
Thank you for helping a new community orchard grow
Thanks to everyone who visited the first Bedminster's Secret Garden day. It was
a huge success and has raised more than £700 towards a new community apple
orchard to be planted on Dean Lane on the corner of Warden Road.
