football education season with an invitation to all of the youth and families
in the area to join us and to participate in an outstanding "brain health"
educational program that will be held at CDH on Monday, May 22, 2017 from 6:30
to 8:30 PM.
This program will feature nationally known Author/ Neurologist/ Neurosurgeon
Dr. Uzma Samadani who will discuss her book ”The Football Decision: An
Exploration Into Every Parent’s Decision Whether Or Not To Let A Child Play
Contact Sports".
Dr. Samadani is a neurosurgeon and brain injury researcher at Hennepin County
Medical Center. She serves as the Rockswold Kaplan Endowed Chair for Traumatic
Brain Injury at Hennepin County Medical Center and as an Associate Professor of
Neurosurgery at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Samadani has received more
than three million dollars in research grants from national and international
competitive funding agencies to study diagnostics, risks, outcomes and
treatments for brain injury.
Dr. Samadani's research grew out of her own personal interest in the subject
because of her son's interest and participation in high school football.
Thanks for helping us spread the word about this informative brain health and
sports participation program. Dr. Samadani's program covers much more than just
the concussion issue as it relates to contact sports and so is very interesting
for people who are active in all sorts of activities. We also should have some
summer skills and fall registration flyers that we would also like to pass
along to you for ditribution if that would be acceptable to you.
If you have any questions about this program or my request please feel free to
give me a call 651-307-4294.

P.S. We will have an opportunity set up for the boys to participate in some
football drills on the CDH turf field during the educational session, playing
alongside of some the CDH high school players and coaches. Just in case a
lecture isn't quite in the wheel house of a youth player that comes to the
program with their Mom or Dad. There will also be refreshments served.
