There seems to be a lack of enough attention to this area near the 38th street
LRT station. The area is laden with graffiti, and not a very good history. In
the last few years several houses on 29th Avenue have been condemned, raided,
and even torched to the ground ( a past previous post about the murder of crows
on 29th Avenue the night before a house burned down). Tillies Bean has been
repeatly vandalized, burglarized...A murder, and some known criminals( they
happen to live on the block) rather roaming the alley of 29th avenue between
the street and the LRT station. Last summer also, a resident on 29th Ave
towards the end of the block woke up to a drunken man passed out on her living
room sofa. Unfortunately- she did not hear him breaking in, however he created
great damage in doing so, destroying her entire threshold and back door.
Strangely, she called 911, had time to call me ( a neighbor at the time), walk
out her back door, meet me in front of her house, we even took pictures of the
passed out drunk man passed out cold on her couch that he urinated on, at least
10 minutes had passed. Honestly, for a woman to call 911 and say "there is a
man in my house"..we had ample time to discuss him, and take pictures. Very
odd to me that the time it took for a squad to get there. Come to find out,
this young man was related to a family living on the block a few doors down, (
whom never apologized or said anything to the neighbor who had this total break
in occur to her- lovely relatives they have breaking unlawfully into neighbors
homes...way could of apologized or offered to pay for damages), and he was
never charged with anything,( the excuse I heard was they let him go cause he
had a job..) nor was the 29th Avenue resident ever reinbursed a nickel for this
so wrongful break-in. The karma of this pocket of SENA, needs a awful
smudging. But moreover, something else...more patrols, and even at the early
meetings on the 29th Avenue apt, that whole area where the two fences are came
up as an issue. It is a vulnerable area, and it's dark and now its a sitting
zone, Very sad to hear of the mugging, and I hope the whole area can get more
attention.
