in 2020 is now available.
Minnesota Green partners with generous donors, including growers, garden
centers, nonprofit groups and private individuals to provide seeds, plants,
gardening tools and supplies to community and public gardens. The donations
span a wide range of plant material, including seeds, veggies, herbs, annual
flowers, perennials, shrubs, trees and gardening tools.
The Minnesota State Horticultural Society's Minnesota Green Program began in
1988 and has been serving the greening efforts of thousands of volunteer
gardeners throughout the state. The program is primarily a plant
re-distribution process: MSHS saves plants that growers, garden centers,
individuals and groups cannot sell. Then we donate them to community gardens
and green spaces.
We've been hard at work growing and improving MN Green, and we're excited to
kick off a fantastic 2020 season! Weโre thrilled to announce the hiring of
Courtney Tchida, our new Community Outreach and Program Manager. Courtney has
over 20 years of experience working in horticulture and food-system education.
Her most recent position was Student Program Coordinator for the Minnesota
Institute for Sustainable Agriculture and Farm Manager for Cornercopia Student
Organic Farm at the University of Minnesota. In her new role, Courtney is
excited about sharing knowledge and helping gardeners succeed. Courtney will
partner with Lara Lau-Schommer, our Community Outreach and Education Director,
to engage community partners and develop and deliver outreach and education
programs.
