I can't help but wonder at what point the Loppet was going to disclose that
they are engaged in a "dispute" with its contractors to MPRB and to the public?
What would have happened had the transfer of the assets to MPRB had been
executed only to then have the public get sucked into the dispute via a lien?
This deal is Jayne Miller's terrible gift that just keeps on giving: more risk
to the public, more time spent policing agreements, more resources spent
propping up third parties that would have been more effectively spent simply
doing what Theodore Wirth originally envisioned: making natural spaces
available to the public.
I do hope the contractors who are getting stiffed aren't similarly stiffing
their employees. And I also hope the current board isn't as easily distracted
by shiny objects (or personalities) as the previous board was - and actually
performed its fiduciary responsibilities when considering partnerships that
have a strong potential to privatize gains and socialize losses.
It's unfortunate that the current board has to sweep up the mess the last one
left behind.
