Posted on behalf of the Friends of Old Headington:
The Friends of Old Headington are holding their Open Gardens afternoon on
Sunday 8 June 2008 from 2.30 to 5.30pm.
Plans showing where the thirteen gardens are will be available on that
afternoon at the Parish Hall in Dunstan Road (or at the first garden you see
displaying the Open Gardens poster).
There will also be a plant stall and teas from 3 to 5.30pm, both at the Parish
Hall.
Admission is £3 to cover all thirteen gardens (£1 to members of the Friends of
Old Headington with membership card).
P.S. I can personally recommend this as a great day out, and the teas by
Otmoor W.I. are delicious. The best place to start is probably Osler Road, as
there are no gardens open in Old High Street this year.
Thanks Stephanie for this reminder. A friend and I had a cuppa and then walked round all the gardens plus a bonus one which wasn't on the list but which put up a notice welcoming everyone anyway, and was well worth the visit. I'm astonished at the work people put into planning and caring for their gardens. Mine suffers from benign neglect - I like to think it's better for wildlife, and I'm sticking to that story - but some of those we saw were astonishing.
