Join Pillsbury United Communities and the City of Minneapolis at a Community
Engagement Session regarding the upcoming 2020 Census on Wednesday, October
23rd from 5-7 pm. This event is specifically geared for immigrant and refugee
communities and folks who work with these specific communities. It will be held
at Waite House Community Center 2323 11th Ave. S. Minneapolis.
Confirmed panelists:
- Alondra Cano, Minneapolis City Council
- Monica Hurtado, Voices for Racial Justice
- John Keller, Minnesota State Attorney General’s Office
- Nelima Sitati Munene, ACER (African Career, Education & Resource, Inc.)
Come with your questions, concerns, ideas...Some topics that will be addressed
include:
- How does the census impact me as an immigrant or refugee?
- What is the State doing to keep people safe?
- How are these communities being engaged? How can I get involved?
- What about ICE? The FBI? My landlord? How is my information kept
confidential?
- How will undocumented immigrants be engaged and kept safe?
- With so many attempts at pushing us into hiding, how are we standing with
each other in solidarity?

- Translation in Spanish, Somali, Hmong and Lao
- Childcare
PARKING: There is a parking lot on the corner of 24th Street and 11th Avenue.
Street parking is also an option.
