Hello all-
I hope this is a good place for this message. We're really looking to get the
word out about this citizen committee for dog parks.
Please help spread the word. Thank you,
Betsy Mowry
The City of Saint Paul Parks and Recreation Commission is accepting
applications for residents interested in serving on the Off-Leash Dog Area
committee.
The committee will be co-chaired by current Parks and Recreation Commission
members Wendy Moylan and Betsy Mowry and staffed by Eric Thompson - who has
managed off-leash dog issues for Parks and Recreation since 1999.
Committee should be available for about 2-6 hours per month for meetings and
site tours. Regular committee meetings will be held on the first Thursday of
each month in 2009. The meetings will be held at the Oxford Community Center
(270 N. Lexington Pkwy.) from 6:30 – 8:30 PM. Membership terms will run through
December 2009.
The purpose of the OLDA committee will be to:
1) Advise the Parks and Recreation Commission and Division of Parks and
Recreation on off-leash dog area issues;
2) Work with staff to identify and establish additional off-leash dog areas
which area accessible to all Saint Paul residents and meet the public demand;
3) Research and make recommendations for establishing a "user fee" for
off-leash dog areas, and
4) Promote the positive social and health benefits of recreation activities
with dogs and how they complement the overall park system.
A membership letter and electronic application need to be submitted.
Please contact Eric Thompson at <email obscured>
or 651-632-2415 to request materials.
The deadline for applications is November 30, 2008.
