Hi, Forum members may be interested in the meeting described below.
Although the Bedminster Partnership strictly speaking only covers Southville
and Bedminster wards (don't ask me!!), folk in neighbouring wards are likely to
be impacted as well by both issues. Here's a chance for a face-to-face
discussion rather than an electronic one. Please let me know if you are
coming so that I can judge the refreshments more accurately. Ben.
Please come to a Special Meeting of the Greater Bedminster Community
Partnership on Tuesday 11 November (evening) at Southville Centre. We will be
discussing progress on two main issues that were identified as this years'
priorities at our meeting in March 2008. The priorities list is attached for
info. Times are for guidance only.
Note: the next business meeting of the partnership will be on January, 20.
AGENDA
1. Refreshments available and a chance to network. 7.00pm
2. Healthier Retail Streets in Bedminster 7.30pm
Following from BCC's publication of a Bristol Retail Strategy last year, the
Bedminster retail streets (mainly East, West and North Streets) have been
identified as a 'Place Management' pilot. One of four across Bristol. The
BCC officer appointed to deliver our pilot is Alice McGarvie. Alice will
explain what it's all about.
Also in the pipeline is a proposal to restructure the so-called pedestrianized
section of East Street as a 'shared space'. The key officer here is John
Richfield who will set out his stall.
Partnership members Show of Strength and Saturday Night, Sunday Morning are
also planning arts activities to encourage local shopping. And more?
3. Better Co-ordinated and promoted services for younger people 8.20pm
What is the Extended School Partnership? What are its future plans? What
messages are coming from the current survey of local young people being carried
out by the Youth Service? What is 'commissioning'? How does the ESP fit
with our neighbourhood partnership?
These are some of the questions to be addressed by Brian Hall who is the
manager of the Ashton and Bedminster ESP (aka S1). This covers both
Southville and Bedminster wards, but also extends into neighbouring wards.
4. Call for Sites 9.00pm
What's it all about?
5. Any Other Business? 9.15pm
A chance for a few quick plugs and questions about any partnership issue.
6. Close of meeting. 9.30pm
Please let me know by Monday or earlier if you are coming, including anyone
else from your organization, so that I can judge the right amount of
refreshments.
Cheers, Ben.
