But first things first, we need to get to know each other by introducing
ourselves. There are two forum managers that are helping to guide this forum:
Hi - Jo Haberman here - one of my areas of work with the Youth Coordinating
Board is supporting youth workers around Minneapolis. YCB is developing an
Out of School Time system in Minneapolis, so we’re thrilled to be in
partnership with Northside, Southside and North East youth worker groups. I
grew up in North Minneapolis, worked as a youth worker and community organizer,
and look forward to expanding opportunities for youth workers in Minneapolis.
Hi, I’m Corrine Bruning and I’m the Outreach Manager for E-Democracy.org. I’m
also one of the key founders of the South Side Youth Worker Engagement Group, a
group that works to serve youth workers in developing the field
professionally.I’m a trained Community Organizer, Facilitator, and Volunteer
Manager and I work for E-Democracy.org in developing strategies for outreach
and engagement. In the past, I worked with both the Minnesota Conservation
Corps and Tree Trust training youth in both developing their work skills and in
environmental stewardship. I love Minneapolis and am passionate about social
justice, ecology and women’s right. I live in Powderhorn with my partner, his
son, and our two dogs. We are starting a very small urban farm this year,
called Jack Dog Farms. I’m very excited to be getting this forum off the
ground, and I hope that it helps Youth Workers.
There are about 300 youth workers on this forum and we’re growing every day. It
will be great if you can introduce yourself to your colleagues to humanize this
space and to really create a strong network. Please let us know a little about
yourself, personally and professionally. We are so excited to get to know you
all through this space, and hopefully soon enough, in person too!
All you need to do is click “Reply All” to this email, to share your
information! It will automatically share with the whole group.
Thanks!
Jo and Corrine!
