This June, St. Paul E-Democracy will be holding our third annual
election to fill positions on our Executive Committee. The Executive
Committee is the primary policy making body for St. Paul E-Democracy.
The Executive Committee is ultimately responsible for:
1) Oversight and direction for all activities of St. Paul
E-Democracy:
"St. Paul E-Democracy strives to inform, engage, and
empower community members in the public life of St. Paul
by building online forums and other tools for public
engagement and by making those resources accessible to
the community. St. Paul E-Democracy seeks to improve the
quality of public policy decision making in St. Paul by
broadening public participation and by linking the
diverse voices of the citizenry to community leaders and
elected officials in a civil and respectful exchange of
information and ideas."
2) Oversight of:
- St. Paul Issues Forum
- St. Paul Announcement Forum
- St. Paul E-Democracy Outreach Program working
out of the Rondo Community Outreach Library
- Efforts to inform and engage members of the community
about local elections, through the use of online tools
- Developing Network of Neighborhood Forums in St. Paul
SPED Executive Committee members are elected or appointed to two year
terms. The time commitment of an Executive Committee member looks
something like this:
1) Monthly Executive Committee meetings
(currently 2nd Wednesday of month
at 8:00 AM)
2) Participate on at least one SPED
committee (with occasional meetings)
3) Participate in online discussion
of Executive Committee
4) At least one annual, half day
"strategic planning meeting"
(most likely on a Sat. morn.)
5) Misc. other tasks.....
