Lyttelton Community House Trust is the only social services agency
permanently located in the Lyttelton Harbour Basin. It provides a range
of services to meet the needs of the most vulnerable members of the
Lyttelton Harbour Basin community.
As a result of the February 22 earthquake, Lyttelton Community House has
provided the base for the community meals project, which delivers over
40 meals per day, 5 – 6 days per week to people who are elderly and
among the most vulnerable in our community. We have identified a need
for a community development worker to work with the most vulnerable
members of this community.
• You will support local seniors and people who have disabilities,
assessing needs and developing initiatives to meet those needs.
• You will be based at Lyttelton Community House with the expectation
that you will be working outside the house much of the time, including
with individuals in their homes.
• You will need a good knowledge of Lyttelton and the Harbour Basin
community and how it operates.
• You will have excellent interpersonal skills, be motivated, creative,
have well developed networking and advocacy skills and an ability to
empathise and empower vulnerable people.
• You will hold a social work or similar qualification or relevant
experience and have experience working in a developmental way.
• You will hold a clean full New Zealand drivers’ licence and be legally
able to work in New Zealand.
Applicants for this position should have NZ residency or a valid NZ work
permit.
