>
> As an important community partner of The Minneapolis Foundation, I’m
writing with an update about the search for the executive who will guide
the Foundation’s competitive grantmaking and other initiatives through our
Community Impact department. As you may know, this position became open in
late November when our Vice President of Community Impact, Luz Maria Frias,
left the Foundation to become President and CEO of YWCA Minneapolis. While
it was bittersweet to lose daily partnership with a colleague as highly
regarded as Luz, we were proud to see her take the helm of YWCA, and we are
committed to continuing the innovative, equity-focused work she led at The
Minneapolis Foundation.

> After interviewing several search firms, we made the decision this month
to hire Ballinger Leafblad, a Minnesota-based firm with a strong track
record of recruiting transformative leaders and special expertise in the
civic sector, as our partner in launching the search to fill this important
position. Ballinger Leafblad also understands our ongoing commitment to the
equity framework that guides the work of both our Community Impact
department and The Minneapolis Foundation as a whole.
