Thanks to everyone who was able to attend the St. Paul Public Schools'
community forum last night at the Jimmy Lee Rec Center.
There are still four more opportunities to take part in Community Engagement
meetings focused on Large-Scale System Change, a response to the academic,
financial and operational challenges and trends Saint Paul Public Schools
has been facing for many years.
These meetings provide an opportunity for people to learn more about the
need for change, to help district officials identify issues and questions as
more information is gathered, and to help determine how community members
would like to be involved in the change process. Input gathered at these
meetings will be shared with the superintendent and the Board of Education.
In addition, people who can't attend any of the following sessions can see a
short video which is being shown at the community engagement sessions. To
see the video, which outlines the context for change, please go to
<http://www.spps.org/> http://www.spps.org.
All of the community meeting times are from 5:30 p.m. 7 p.m., with a light
dinner provided. The dates and locations of the remaining sessions are:
-- November 17, Como Park Senior High School, 740 W. Rose Ave.
-- December 3, Phalen Lake Elementary School, 1089 Cypress St.
-- December 4, Gloria Dei Church, 700 Snelling Ave. S.
-- A December 12 meeting of the Somali Parent Advisory Committee scheduled
to take place at Highwood Hills Elementary, located at 2188 Londin Lane,
will also be focused on Large-Scale System Change.
Hope to see you at one of these!
