minimum wage issue has this recommendation (p.29):
"Make no exception for tipped workers in the hospitality industry β
all workers are subject to minimum wage, regardless of tips, consistent
with the state policy."
Minnesota has a lower minimum wage and no tip credit. So the problem
with that recommendation is that a Minneapolis-only ($15) minimum wage
itself is inconsistent with state policy.
If the Council is going to make an exception to the state policy on the
wage, it logically and consistently can make an exception to include a
tip credit for servers and other workers. On balance, I think it ought
to based on the information I've heard and read.
