spend the next boatload of âroads and bridgesâ money. Tomorrow,
Tuesday, June 22, for one hour, from 4:30-5:30p, before the concrete
project planners wonder off to their downtown bars and parking
garages, the public is invited to comment on the plan.

If past performance is any indication, contrary to the stated goals,
the current plan will NOT:
1) âbuild better roads that improve safetyâ
2) âimprove highways, bridges and interchanges,â or
3) âinvest in transit to create a stronger system.â
As have all past plans, the current plan to get and spend the âroads
and bridgesâ money will accommodate:
1) higher volumes of higher speed vehicles leading to more crashes on
more dangerous roads,
2) looney-laned highway bridges and interchanges where the crashes are
concentrated,and
3) a public transit system that continues to become more dysfunctional
and less accessible.
Meanwhile, all the pavement from all the past concrete projects will
continue to crumble as the money to maintain the mess continues to lag
far behind the money feeding âroads and bridgesâ mess. If they canât
maintain the pavement that already exists, why are they destroying
more of the landscape and pouring more of our money down the concrete
project drain?
