We read slightly bemused that Newham is in line to win a prestigious tourism
award - the 'Visit London Award'. Before you scoff, Newham attracted over 4,000
'tourists' (albeit mostly Newham residents) to the Boroughs numerous tourist
sites. One of which no doubt is the Town Hall where 'tourists' might enquire -
how come with all the CCTV's in the borough you cant stop flytipping etc.
Anyway, apparently Newham is in the same tourist league as the British Museum's
promotion of China's Terracotta Army, and the Imperial War Museum's promotion
of a James Bond exhibition. All exciting stuff and we look forward to a front
page pic in the Newham Recorder of the Great Leader lifting the prize... Hmm so
thats why Sir Robin went on a Bejing 'Jollie', so he could get tips on how to
beat the British Museum's promotion of China's Terracotta Army to the covetted
tourism prize !
