SIMPLE FACTS...
Whether or not you argee with him, Bob Johnson is working to challenge the
reputation of another respected community insitution.
Very many of us harbor serious and lingering doubts about his identity.
Whether or not he is who he says he is cuts to our organizational credibility,
and that includes my own credibility being associated with SPED.
We would ideally have addressed this issue more fully months ago, but we were
in the early stages of organizational development, and for the sake of the
organization, many of us temporarily buried the concern.
WITH THAT IN MIND, A SINGLE SIMPLE REQUEST...
As an Executive Committee member, I would ask that Michelle could document in
writing *exactly* how she has verified Bob Johnson's identity to date, while
maintaining his privacy. I'd like to get this via email by next Sunday at the
very latest, which would give us a week to mull it over before our next
Executive Committee meeting.
Let's discuss nothing more here, but save it for our next meeting. My request
is simple and it is both my responsibility and my clear perrogative as an
Executive Committee member to have this information in a timely fashion.

I don't have all the facts sorted out. It seems clear to me that this group is
building housing that is unaffordable to normal local people. It would not be
the first time that good people ending up doing things that did not turn out so
great. Like electric shock therapy. In the first version we zapped the whole
body and now we are drilling in peoples heads and putting electric current in
specific spots in the brain. I think the discussion should continue. I think
it is unfair when one starts actually losing in the public forum, to start
attacking someone personally. So I cry FOUL. Take it to the forums.
Let it be known that this does not in any way mean that I agree with the person
in question. However I am the person who is most used to be the sole voice
against the many, and I will always defend the right of that sole voice to
speak against the many. I also defend that right for everyone else to respond
and speak as well.

I'm asking for information, not action.
I simply request that by Sunday I get a written description of
exactly what we have done to verify Bob's identity. This was very
much an unresolved issue that people like me put on hold to get the
organization formed.
I will judge the integrity of this organization in part on how well
it handles this request.
