I've ever seen - and it's Friday afternoon before a holiday, for gosh
sakes :-)
What some of us have tried to do is work with others across race,
class, gender, etc. lines to help create strong options for young
people. A few results of this work are
Post-Secondary Enrollment Options
St. Paul Open School
Area Learning Centers
The Charter Public School Movement
The Capstone system at the Humphrey Institute (allowing graduate
students to do their final paper as a service to some community group,
thus helping the community group while providing valuable experience for
the student
Some readers regard some of the above as rocks to be smashed. Others
regard them as gems. I'm in between - regarding them as imperfect and
in need of constant tending.
But I do appreciate the comment and hope each person reading this has a
wonderful weekend.
