OnFebruary 6th, the Westwood Special Education Parent Advisory Council(SEPAC)
is hosting "Just Talk About It" with guest speakerJon Mattleman. This event is
a complement to Mental Health Awareness Week atthe high school. At the
completion of the training programparents will know how to help a child,
student and/ or friend who isexperiencing a mental health issue or crisis.
JonMattleman is a clinician with more than 35 years of experience working
withadolescents and teenagers. He will lead an interactive presentation as
anintroduction to mental health awareness that is designed to train parents
andcaregivers on how to recognize the warning signs of stress,
anxiety,depression, and crisis. Jon will cover topics such as self-harm,
suicide andthe emotional consequences of technology/social media.
