stuff you don't need?
While you can get a junk dealer to drive across town by posting to
Craigslist, why not share your stuff with someone just down your block
via your local Neighbors Forum. Once local sharing gets going on your
forum, it is unstoppable. Neighborly good karma squared.
Some tips:
1. Just put "Free:" in the subject line and describe where it can be
picked up (assuming it is outside).
2. Simple posting instructions are at the very bottom of every email post.
3. If you want people to contact you about the item, type your email
like this: clift (at) e-democracy.org - this way our web visitors can
contact you easily. Don't put unlisted telephone numbers on the forum
if you want to keep it private.
4. If you know how to attach a photo of the item to an email via your
computer or phone, go ahead.
5. As a charitable service, if you want to sell things please use
Craigslist (unless the proceeds are for local charity) instead. Free
and community benefit are what these forums are all about.
6. If you get replies well after it is taken, just reply to your post
to make it known it has been picked up.
7. As the spring unfolds, plant swaps are quite popular too.
8. It is also OK to ask your forum if someone has a special tool to
share as well as things you gather for projects (we've had requests
for maple sap tapping, large yogurt containers to store meals for
elderly parents, etc.).
Share Away!
