Here are my inadequate notes.
What's out binding philosophy? What do we believe?
Do we believe in the power of individualism?
Or is collaboration important?
In the next 30 years ALL of the built structure of the earth will be
built again.
The problems of Auckland, are repeated in cities all around the world.
We are trapped by our past.
We have a city of disconnects that needs to be connected.
This disconnect is everywhere.
You can see it in our allocation of resources.
We see it int eh development of new suburbs.
We are creating a cul-de-sac world, and we'll regret that.
Yet we live in a world with connecting technology in our pockets.
The technology in our pockets is helpful.
It allows us to create performance ratings for products.
It allows us to create building standards and inform people about them.
We can create labels for the build environment, and talk about how to
design it.
We need to build cities which connect the community, to meeting face to
face, and to walking and to gardens.
How do we build a smarter community?
How do we turn away from being a consumer society, and become a
co-sumption society?
We need to build environments that connect us to each other.
Walking school bus.
Community gardens.
Will this be the generation that stops the human race following the path
to human extinction?
We live in a new era. What will they call it? How will they remember us?
