Wow, digital is amazing. Bravo to all of you who have been working so
hard on this.
I would strongly support eliminating parking on the north side of
Franklin in favor of bike lanes. It changes the feel of the street
and increases the safety of cyclists. It would be a terrific way to
draw recreational cyclists off the River Road and onto Franklin for
dining or shopping.
The businesses most affected by this for the most part have parking
lots (Zipp's, Wells Fargo, Northern Clay). Pizza Luce and the other
businesses in that building might face problems. Might the bakery
taking over the coop be willing to rent some spaces to them?
I like the jazzed up crosswalks, particularly the circles. Again, it
changes the appearance, changes how we think about things, which
often has the effect of slowing people down.
As a Ward 2 CLIC member, I can tell you that there were some concerns
about the lack of details we were given on the Minnehaha-Franklin
intersection redesign. I say this only because it will be important
to communicate with CPED on this intersection, and help them
communicate the community's vision to CLIC and the Council.
I'm in favor of a neighborhood gateway sign, and the one presented
seems fine. I really love the Elliot Park one, though.
The cube planters outside Northern Clay in one photo look a little
like trash cans, and more importantly, graffiti targets. The
cylinders are, IMHO, much more attractive. I love the idea of the
concrete-grid street on their east side. It's a greater connection to
the park.
Thank you to all who are working on this!
