Paul,
National and Labour have some similarities, people can swing from one to
the other.
What I have seen is people voting Labour when they are a bit down, and
National after Labour has built them up again. Then they vote National
till they go down again. National moves wealth away from the lower
income people.
Labour has done some wonderful things such as reducing logging of rimu.
That cost it a bit of popularity in some areas. But do you remember not
too many years back when our wonderful heritage rimu forests were used
as a cheaper source of concrete boxing than pinus radiata? Some were
making a profit and getting jobs out of that, but could it last?
At the moment some Labour voters are going Green, aren't they, as Labour
try to retain democratic input, but at the same attract investment from
the big players, which is very hard. We are selling our produce without
adding value.
