I received a message from my neighbor this afternoon with a bit of concern
about a stranger by the house. I forwarded the message to my wife and she
had a similar reaction. Something about the situation seemed as both said:
"creepy."
Here are the details, just in case: Got out of a late model Toyota Sienna -
beige in color with Minnesota plates. Couldn't see what the number was.
Parked in front of our house, then proceeded to spend about 5 minutes
walking up our street to Sherren, then back while smoking and looking
strange - did I mention creepy!?!? Got in his vehicle, did a Y turn and
left. I've never seen him or the car before.
In addition to senses being heightened, I find the exchange interesting from
a couple of different ways:
* I find that part of living in a community is looking out for one another
* In our overly-sensitive society where there seems to be so much
concentration on keeping your nose out of other people's business, I
appreciate a neighbor taking an interest.
With a real possibility that Spring will come, I am looking forward to some
neighborhood get-togethers. Wondering if anyone else has had any experience
arranging or participating in a "Neighborhood Watch" program?
