Our local neighborhood association (which is independent from this forum, but
supportive) produces a weekly e-mail newsletter that complements its print
newsletter. I'll check to see if we can get them to post it directly to the
forum so it populates our archive. They also have a website at:

*Other*
- *Kandiyohi Development Partners has requested a five-month extension
of a rapidly approaching March 30th deadline in their land sale
agreement with the City of Minneapolis for the construction of the
Midtown Eco Energy biomass facility*. 9^th Ward Council Member Gary
Schiff stated he will not support the deadline extension. "Enough
questions have been raised by the neighborhood about the cumulative
health effects of pollution," Schiff said. "The city should not drag
this out much longer. Enough time has been given for the project to meet
its obligations." The deadline could be extended by City Council action.
Only one Council meeting - taking place this Friday at 9:30 a.m. -
remains before the March 30th deadline. If you have strong feelings
either way, you are encouraged to contact your Council Member before Friday.

*- Minneapolis Dog Parks!* These areas are fenced and signed. Only those
dog owners who have purchased a permit for Off-Leash Recreation Areas
can exercise their dogs in these specially designated areas. If you plan
to exercise your dog in an off-leash dog park, you will need to purchase
a permit in addition to licensing your dog. Click here for more info

You can also try the 'Airport Dog Park' (80 acres just south of Hwy 62
on 28th Ave) which does not require a permit. The Airport encourages
people and dogs to use this space, as parking lot crime has been reduced
100% thanks to the activity. Note: entire area is not fenced in. Also,
the park is bordered on the west by swamp land which can be dangerous
for dogs that wander in and can get stuck. Is particularly muddy this
time of year.
