Hi, and if you are receiving this newsletter for the first time, welcome to St.
Paul Updates.
Our upcoming workshop (February 4th) features guest presenter Robbie LaFleur,
who will demonstrate how to follow issues, track bills and connect with
legislators during the upcoming session of the Minnesota legislature (session
begins February 12th). We are also looking for volunteers for our upcoming
tabling sessions and workshops, so I encourage you to pick a day (or more) that
fits your schedule. Finally, we have an Outreach committee meeting coming up
on February 11th. Keep reading for more information about all these topics.
--PREVIOUS WORKSHOP--
This week, Cathi presented a workshop on Internet Safety. A draft outline of
this workshop is still available at
http://pages.e-democracy.org/Internet_Safety and we will try to get the
complete PowerPoint online soon; if you want it sooner please email
<email obscured>.
--NEXT WORKSHOP [FEBRUARY 4TH]--
Our next workshop will focus on the upcoming session of the Minnesota
Legislature, which begins February 12. Guest presenter Robbie Lafleur,
director of the Minnesota Legislative Reference Library, will prepare you to be
involved and informed by showing you how to follow issues, track bills and
connect with legislators using Minnesota's nationally recognized legislative
website. She will help you explore the wealth of resources posted by many
legislative offices, and will introduce you to the newest website features and
plans for the future. There will also be an opportunity to ask questions, and
refreshments will be provided. This should be an informative workshop; whether
you’re an experienced legislature-watcher or new to state politics, I encourage
you to come.

--VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES--
E-Democracy is a volunteer-powered organization. Without help from people like
you, we can't host workshops or help community members during tabling. We are
currently looking for volunteers for February 4th, 11th and 25th. Volunteers
can help table at Rondo Library from 4-6pm, or they can assist with our
workshops from 6:50 to 8:45. In both cases, volunteers will mainly provide
one-on-one assistance to community members, although workshop assistants may
also help with setup and demonstrations. Please contact
<email obscured> to volunteer, and thanks in advance.
--OUTREACH COMMITTEE MEETING--
St. Paul E-Democracy's Outreach Committee meets monthly at Rondo Library in St.
Paul. The next meeting will take place on February 11 at 5:30. We would be
delighted to see you there and get your input on our upcoming activities, so
mark your calendar.
I look forward to seeing you at one of our upcoming events.
