Betty, I would just add a little more civic mindedness to your wonderfully
stated recipe for change: it's time for a change of government as well. I
would recommend Tony Marquez as the mayoral candidate most likely to bring
competence back to governance. And, if you live in Ward 3 - vote for Andrew
Feldman for city council. If both these fine gentlemen are voted in to office,
together with Diane Moore we would have a city council to be proud of.
Kevin Tracy, Las Vegas
By way of introduction:
I'm pretty new to Meadow City, but am enjoying every minute. My partner and I
moved here because of Las Vegas' beauty and lack of preciousness. Folks here
are just doing their thing without too much correctness corrupting our peace of
mind. There seemed to be "elbow room" despite being a city. The historical
thing can get a little hysterical, but generally that's a good thing. I'm
wondering though what our vision of the future is here on the edge of the
Rockies. What about the youth of this fair city? If the economic development
of Las Vegas is tourist dependent, aren't we dooming our children to lives of
serving the rich just like in Santa Fe? The candidates for city government
talk about inviting "green industries" to our city, what exactly does that
really mean? The Economic Development Corporation talks about enticing more
franchises to our city, is that the kind of economic development we need or
want?
Anyway, being new here I am probably best at asking questions. I don't know
all the complexities of life in Las Vegas. I don't really get Fiesta for
example. Also, what's up with all the empty buildings? So I look forward to
this electronic conversation with you all. I hope to learn and to get even
more excited about my beautiful city and the people in it.
