*Calendar*
*- Sat, May 24, 9:00-noon - Spring Plant Swap*. The Powderhorn Park
Neighborhood Association and the Community Garden at 3215 15th Avenue
South will be hosting a Spring Plant Swap on Saturday, May 24th. The
event will be held rain or shine.
*- Sat-Mon, May 24-May 26 – Memorial Day Weekend at Fort Snelling*. Try
your hand at historic games and the new "Fort Kids Club" Scavenger Hunt,
offered each day during Memorial Day Weekend. Kids 12 and under that
complete the self-guided scavenger hunt will receive a special Fort Kids
Club button. On Saturday and Monday, kids can also make their own
American flag to take home. On Monday, explore 225 years of American
military history during this special day honoring America's soldiers.
Costumed staff will interpret all eras of United States military history
through period clothing, accoutrements, artifacts and firing
demonstrations. Veterans and current military families are admitted free
of charge. Fee: $10 adults, $8 seniors and college students, $5 children

*- Mon, May 26 – Memorial Day*. City offices and SENA office closed.
Garbage collection this week will be one working day later than usual.
*- Fri, May 30, 7:30-9:00 p.m. - Breakfast with Councilmember Gary
Schiff*. Join Council Member Schiff and a panel of experts who will
discuss issues faced by returning U.S. veterans. Mercado Central (1515
East Lake Street) $5 buys breakfast.
*Other*
- *Stop by and say hello to new 38^th street businesses under
construction*. Dreamhaven Books has begun moving into the former J&D
Movies space (38^th and 23^rd ), A-Tree Services (formerly located at
46^th and 46^th ) has begun renovating the former Sundem's Carburetor
property (38^th and Longfellow), and Citizen Café is renovating the
former Sweet Lorraine's (38^th and 24^th ).
- *Are you thinking about spring cleaning this weekend?* Each
Minneapolis household is allotted six free vouchers for disposal of up
to 2000 lbs of waste at the South Transfer Station (2850 20^th Ave S.)
Open Tuesday-Friday 12:30-7:30 p.m.; Saturday 8:30-3:30 p.m. For more

- *Foreclosure counselors available at Powderhorn Resident's Group
(PRG).* PRG, a local non-profit partner located at 2017 E. 38th St. has
mortgage foreclosure counselors available to assist families who need
advice about their mortgages. The counselors can help you understand
exactly what kind of mortgage you have and provide you with tools to
work with your lender if you are behind on your mortgage payments. The
counseling is free and confidential and is available to anyone who is
facing mortgage concerns. There is no lower or upper income limit. Call
